The Romanian Constitutional Court on Thursday said it would not reach a decision on whether to approve the failed impeachment referendum of suspended President Traian Basescu until September. The court said it must verify the current number of registered voters against official census figures to determine whether the referendum on Sunday did in fact fail because of insufficient turnout. The court was to make the decision on September 12, after it acquires the definitive figures from the 2011 national census. This means that Basescu will remain suspended until then.
